Hey there. I’m Sharon, and I’m not going to write my bio in third person. I’m a freelance photographer based in Brooklyn. I’m obsessed with buying old cameras and finding out if they work later (it’s a real mixed bag!). I mostly shoot on 35mm these days, but obviously know digital if that’s your sorta thing.

I’ve been at The New York Times since 2018. The majority of that time has been spent running our social accounts and working on projects about teen girls. I was one of the editors behind The Times’s Being 13, a snapshot of middle school in the age of social media; and This Is 18, an international photo project and book showcasing teenage girlhood around the world.

I was a researcher and associate producer of the iHeart Radio podcast In Retrospect. I was also the researcher and social editor of Feminist Fight Club, a best-selling book by award-winning journalist Jessica Bennett.

I graduated from NYU Gallatin in 2017 and have worked as a TA for Bennett’s NYU journalism course, Reporting the Zeitgeist, since 2021. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and spend my free time in search of really good tacos.
